Let Nick shift your book between stocks and bonds as volatility changes
VIX Regime SPY/BND Allocation checks market volatility every afternoon, reads which of four regimes you're in, and rebalances your SPY and BND weights on Alpaca only when the drift is big enough to matter. You get an email either way.
VIX Regime SPY/BND Allocation
Each afternoon near the close, this strategy pulls a year of VIX history alongside 60 days of SPY and BND price data and a live snapshot of your connected Alpaca account. Nick scores the VIX five-day average and where it sits against the past year, checks whether SPY has fallen below its 50-day average, and uses that to pick one of four regimes, from calm markets that favor 90% SPY down to a crisis setting that favors 90% BND. A model you choose writes up the regime call and what it means for your allocation. If your actual SPY and BND weights have drifted more than 3% from the target, Nick rebalances both positions on Alpaca and emails you the full breakdown. If you're still within tolerance, you get a short note confirming nothing needed to change.
How it works
Step 1
Read the volatility regime
Every afternoon, Nick pulls a year of VIX history plus 60 days of SPY and BND data, then scores the VIX five-day average against its one-year range.
Step 2
Pick a target allocation
That score sets one of four regimes, calm, moderate, high volatility, or crisis, each with its own SPY versus BND target weight.
Step 3
Rebalance when it drifts
If your live Alpaca account has drifted more than 3% from the target, Nick trades both SPY and BND back toward it.
Step 4
Get the report
Every run ends with an email: the regime, the targets, and either the trades that fired or a note that you're still on target.

It uses the VIX volatility index to set a target mix between stocks and bonds, shifting toward SPY when markets are calm and toward BND as volatility rises, then rebalances your account when the drift is big enough to matter.
Alpaca. Connect your Alpaca account, paper or live, and Nick places the SPY and BND orders directly once the regime calls for a rebalance.
Yes. Point the strategy at an Alpaca paper trading account first, so you can watch it read the VIX regime and rebalance against live prices before switching to a live account.
It checks the regime every day near the close, but only trades when your actual SPY or BND weight has drifted more than 3% from the current target.
Yes. The VIX levels that define each regime, the target SPY and BND weights, and the drift tolerance all live in the workflow, so you can tune them to your own risk appetite.
